Wisps of Solace
Dec 5, 2018
And while I lay half asleep, battling to awaken
She flew down gently and lay on the side of my head
A touch so gentle it shook the soul of my bed
And whispered the sweetest nothings in my ear
Of days gone by, of memories past
Of people I loved, of things that don’t last
And she wove these words in silence with wisps of air
As her gentle wings beat silently on my hair
And then in a trice when my soul was at ease
She took flight so softly like a gentle breeze
My sleep won the battle as I gently laid to rest
My thoughts that awoke me and put my soul to the test
