This Fortress
Nov 21, 2021
This Fortress is fortified
The drawbridge is up, the rooms are manned
The moat is full and the crocs are swimming
No boats allowed, no chance of winning
Guarded against the onslaught
Once trialled, once fought, once penetrated
Now fraught
No more to be used, abused, plundered, torn asunder
No more to be risking for the sake of a thrill
The broken walls – rebuilt
The dented armour – re-forged
The pulsing heart – re-fuelled
The soul once torn, now whole
No more to be the playground of a cowardly asshole
