The Glass Shell
They both stayed encased in this fragile glass shell
Both damaged, and damaging but
cocooned by the false serenity the shell offered
They both convinced themselves that they could remain
Happy or what happiness a glass shell can offer
Never stopping to consider the nature of their cocoon
The world in general and their own destructive selves
They remain anchored to a glass shell
Peering out at the world encased in a fishbowl of fantasies
Fairy tales and happily ever afters
Suspended in mid air by Fate’s mischievous hands
Till one day when it will be flung down and dashed
To test the age old test of time – endurance, perseverance, trust & love
Not things a glass shell can encompass
Fate is swinging her pendulum with a smile
They will remain comfortably fooled, but only for a while
