‘Sannaliyane’ – They who will not be owned

‘We are proud of our associates and stand by them’

Associate by name, given thus by those who claim

To care, to share, to offer a step up from the cavern of gloom & doom

A step towards heaven or maybe a few

But you will always be there and I will be up here

VS, Gap for me, Angelina, Senorita for thee

Coz that’s how it works, that’s how we were taught

With Kusuma, Latha, Karuna and Ram

We treat them well but how well is well?

A step from the dark, a walk away from hell?

How about equality?

Oh no, that’s not possible but we will hold up BLM boards

Coz after all that’s systemic violence right?

This is just us being the benevolent Walauwe Nona and Mahaththaya

This is not structural violence. It never was

Not when I sit on top of the equality cause

Subaltern by birth and must continue to be

If I am to enjoy all that is entitled to me

You Sannaliyane, the backbone of our economy

Shall weave the path to my privileged destiny
