Owl Poetry & Prose

Inspired by Pain…

You’ve stolen so many people I know

People I love

Some I could never say goodbye to

You haunt us all, like the shadow we can never lose

The clutch in our hearts when we hear something

The butterflies in our stomach when we feel something

You haunt me too, like the caress of a familiar demon

The stroke of a thorny branch

The whispered sweet nothings of an abusive lover

You are there – forever threatening, forever haunting

When can we ever know respite from you?

Or is this fate? Is this God’s will? I think not.

I hope I never meet you because even I don’t know what I would do

Allow you to abuse me, your cure fuck me over or just forget you mean anything

What is life? Is that what you are sent to remind us of?

Suffering? Pain? Loss? Warped physiques, dreams and hopes?

Perhaps. Till I know the answer one day, the pain is soul wrenching…
