Owl Poetry & Prose

Have you heard that silence…?

Have you heard that silence?

When people at home leave, go away, never return

That absolute emptiness

A chasm which radio tunes fill temporarily

Yet

It’s still there like a looming shadow, like a pressing feel

It never really goes away

When you wake up, when you return at night

Alone

No one to knock on your door, say good morning, say hello

Nothing

Just emptiness, silence and sometimes, guilt

Where everything is different because you don’t hear

Familiar known sounds

Sounds of home, of people of yore

No more
