Fire & Ice
I was fire
You Ice
The bond we shared forged out of a need for each other
A yearning for life that was something more than we both knew or thought would ever be
You unfurled my flames, in a way no one had ever been allowed by me before
And my flames mercilessly licked your ice in a way you had never allowed anyone to before
You introduced me to a world I longed to know but was too afraid to step into
Gently, coaxing, reassuring, kneading and plying
Till I was no longer afraid to let my fire rage and consume that which I held so dear
The shackles that anchored me to a foundation of fear
And I unwittingly melted away that ice which covered your wounded soul
The frozen cold which was your protector, your shield
Forged in hurt and anger, forever sealed
Till now
Till I unknowingly yet mercilessly let it open and flow through
Your fear, your anger, the hurt, the pain
The joy, the laughter, all that kept you sane
Stripped away, raw and wounded, still so beautiful
In your brokenness you were everything and nothing
And the arrow of the cherub that pierced my soul
Like metal to a magnet, like the ocean to the shore
Hit you later, ice melted, no longer a game
And as you bled before me
You knew,
What made me bleed, was you
And that together, we were potent, deadly, unpredictable and fiery
So you fled,
Yet you are drawn, and leave so much unsaid
And in this dance of virtue and vice
I am still fire
You are Ice
Together we can be a discordant symphony or forever be composing this melodic cacophony
