Bespoke tales of a gon(e) word…
It was a rather bespoke moment of revelation when I happened upon a word of yore,
Bespoke was my reaction for twas something I had come across scarcely before.
Now bespoke was the creation of words and texts, advertisers and copywriters’ go to for feigned sophistication
where the very mention creates a flutter
amongst those seeking bygone words to randomly utter
Bespoke was first spoken to describe clothes specifically chosen
Made to order, made to fit, bespoke meant something in 19th century Lit
Now tis bespoke menus of regular partaking (er??_
Bespoke be the jewellery of custom making (duh!)
Bespoke be experiences offered to many
Bespoke be jungles safaris not just any (??!)
Oh bespoke be my reaction on such foolish enaction
Of picking random etymology
To denote feigned sophistication and terminology
When one clearly can say for better comprehension
‘Custom made’, ‘tailor made’ – tis clear communication
But no, we must select those words we do neglect
To add a tingle to the senses and a twist to our minds
As bespoke be the experience on reading such old finds
