Note to self – To be or not to be? The Survival Paradox

You know your problem? You’re trying to fit into everything that society wants – your family, friends, peers, relatives – and not what you truly want. Heck, you’re not sure even of what you want. But you know it’s not exactly this. And so you persevere, sometimes chucking aside the very things that make you happy and help you survive simply coz you are not ready to deal with it. Or so you think.

This rat race you have joined has worked for everyone right? So it must work for you too. Except the truth is that the rat race is going nowhere for anyone in it. It’s a race to the grave – who gets there first and who wins? No one really knows but it’s the norm and the herd is in it. So you join it. And you tell yourself this is it. Except you know it’s not true. So you’re not exactly happy. Heck, you’re exhausted and half dead and you’re dealing with people and situations you really don’t want to be part of but no, this is it. The light at the end of the tunnel will come fast, except that you seem to be caught in a bend in the tunnel which is going in circles. So there’s no visible light. So while you’re conscience is screaming warning signs, you’re pathetically rational mind is urging you on. ‘Success comes to those who work hard’. Really? How come the labourers around the world are not millionaires? ‘Suffer now and you will be rewarded’. By whom?

Choose your path now and base it on what makes you happy. Not money. Not power. Not status. What makes your mind pulse with joy and passion. If not you are on a collision course to certain death. Of your spirit. And that my dear, is the most tragic death of all.
